Former Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan has disclosed how he ignored a contract to play for one of England’s biggest teams, Manchester City just to play in the AFCON and to make his country proud at a point in his life.
If we recall, Asamoah Gyan lost a last-minute penalty that was supposed to qualify Ghana into the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup. Subsequently, the skipper again lost a penalty against Zambia in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Well, according to him, the events leading the tournament involved him giving up the AFCON to sign a contract to play for Manchester City but even though he ignored a win for himself in order to put the country first, the people of Ghana took him on fir losing his penalty kick.
