According to the dictionary, Dome basically means “a rounded vault forming the roof of a building or structure, typically with a circular base.” According to Wikipedia, the term means “an architectural element similar to the hollow upper half of a sphere.” Can we say that is the reason why the Accra International Conference Centre is called that way? Over the years, The Dome has hosted the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, which happens to be Ghana's biggest music award festival, Ghana DJs Awards, the country's most prestigious DJs award scheme, and international fairs.
The events centre has also hosted the lying-in-state rights of some prestigious personalities including; fmr. presidents; Evans Attah Mills, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, J.J Rawlings, and Kofi Annan.
