The Africa Cup of Nations 2021 in Cameroon witnessed 24 African countries qualifying through fierce qualification matches to the tournament.
The tournament came with 6 groups with each holding four teams. Going through the competition like many other football tournaments, the strongest teams made it from the group stages with the top two teams from each making it to the round of 16 and four best third-place teams following.
The biggest blow of the AFCON 2021 tournament is the shutting down of Cameroon’s dreams of hosting and winning after they were dropped by Egypt at the semi-finals through penalties. They however beat Burkina Faso to win 3rd place.
Well, the final match of the tournament which was played on February 6, 2022, was between Senegal and Egypt.
After 90 minutes of great football and 30 additional minutes, Senegal saw victory to shut down Egypt’s dream of lifting the trophy from penalty shootouts of Senegal 4-Egypt 2.
