Plans have been advanced for the review of the Nana Akufo-Addo government’s Free SHS flagship program along with other programs which are believed to be consuming largely into the government’s huge expenditure and the reason for the huge budget.
The demand of many Ghanaians is about to be met as the country faces a huge economic shortfall due to the depreciation of the Cedi and global fuel price hikes.
According to Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information, Ghana, all 16 of the government’s flagship programs are listed for review and the president has approved that these steps are taken to mitigate the economic hardships.
According to the minister, this decision is part of many large decisions arrived at by the cabinet in a 4-day cabinet meeting held in Aburi in the Eastern Region.
He said in an interview; “If based on the caps that we are working with we will have to rescope a particular flagship program, we will do it and see how much we can achieve.”
