The change in the lifestyle in a number of today’s youth may be attributed to many factors of which one cannot lay a hand at any point in time. But the actions of some of these youth are purely unimaginable to the dismay of everyone who keeps an eye on them. By this, we report to you that the Three Town SHS student who stabbed a teacher has been handed a 4-year prison term.
It will be recollected that on the 11th of August 2021 the accused (Gilbert Akakpo) a final year visual art student was seen bullying a first-year student John Ezekiel when the erudite ICT teacher the complainant(John Akey) came to the rescue of the first-year student. Much to the displeasure of the accused he stabbed the teacher in the upper arm which resulted in serious phlebotomy (letting of blood).
The accused who was later arrested by the police was arranged before the court on the 12th of August and charged with causing harm.

THE REPUBLIC VRS. THE ACCUSED- GILBERT AKAKPO
30TH NOVEMBER, 2021. JUDGEMENT DAY: GILBERT AKAKPO SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS IMPRISONMENT
“But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath when his righteous judgment will be revealed”.ROMANS 2:5.
“Once to every man and nation comes the moment to decide. In the strife of truth with falsehood for the good or evil side…” After almost four months of trials finally, the judgment of the case between the republic and the accused- Gilbert Akakpo has finally come to an end.
The presiding judge(Francis Ofosu) who was dandily dressed entered the courtroom at exactly 9:17 am. The case with interest that is, the republic versus the accused(Gilbert Akakpo) took a centre stage at 10:26 am when the soft-spoken learned judge who incidentally was a former English tutor for ten years, shared some useful experiences with the teachers in the court.
He read a very detailed overview of the almost four months of trial. His judgment was interspersed with relevant cases to back his ruling. As he kept everybody in suspense the accused who was in overall sea-blue apparel, was visibly tensed up and squinting his eyes uncontrollably. The packed court listened to the equanimous judge as he read the thirty minutes judgment. He quoted section 11(2) of the evidence act and section 69 to establish whether a crime has indeed been committed.

After weighing the arguments of the prosecutor(Bob Wudah) and the defense counsel(Raymond Afawubo) the learned judge said he was not convinced by the defense of the accused. He said the accused was not obligated to prove his innocence but to cast doubt at the prosecution which he failed to do. He will therefore sentence the accused to four years imprisonment.

His counsel succeeded in securing his bail. Today in court he was pronounced guilty of the charge and sentenced to four years in prison.
His lawyer appealed to the court for bail pending appeal but he was denied. Gilbert Akakpo whose truancy will take him out of society for the next four years will enjoy free electricity, free water, free meals, and free accommodation all at the expense of the state.
This impeccable judgment will serve as a deterrent to other vagabonds and deviants in our senior high schools.
The court was well packed with teachers of Three town SHS and families of the accused.
