Former captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has lamented about how the country he gave out everything for has not been able to celebrate him the way a legend should be celebrated.
The skipper described the situation as the hypocritical attitude of many Ghanaians who have failed to see that he has done a lot for the country with his achievements in football and deserves to be appreciated even in a very little way.
According to the star in an interview, his opinion is based on the fact that social media platforms are always flooded with insults about his personality and sometimes his parents with reference to his penalty kick at the world cup.
Speaking on the Denta Show, the 36-year-old who rumours have it will be returning to represent Ghana for the last time said that in many countries, an accomplishment such as his would be on the lips of many people but Ghanaians do not see it worthy.
When asked the question of whether he thinks he has been celebrated enough, he was quick to answer saying he does not think so. In his own words he said;
“There are a lot of people who come to social media to disrespect me. They say a lot of things but they know the truth. One thing about Ghanaians is they know the right things but instead of putting them out there, they will not do. But foreigners praise theirs, that is where Ghanaians bring their stars to compare”
