Management of the Controller and Accountant General's Department has explained why a section of workers in the Ghana Education Service and Ghana Health Service have not been paid their two months arrears which comprises June and December 2021 4% salary increment.
Just when salaries of public sector workers were paid, a section of teachers and nurses found out that they have not been paid arrears due to them for the above-mentioned period.
But explaining why things turned out that way, the Controller and Accountant General explained that during the time of processing the salaries for public sector workers, there was a technical glitch that caused a delay in the processing.
For the above reason, waiting to fix the issue will result in a delay in paying the salaries so through consultation, the department decided to pay the affected workers their basic salaries excluding the increment.
The department further disclosed that the affected staff of the Government of Ghana will be paid their due arrears in January 2022 when salaries are paid for the month.
