The artiste received his stage name from Chuck D, named after NFL and CFL wide receiver George “Buster” Rhymes.

After his parents moved into Long Island, Busta Rhymes attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in Brooklyn alongside “The Notorious B.I.G” and “Jay Z” and eventually graduated from Long Island’s Uniondale High School in 1991.
