The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led gov't has finally acquired some full cruise mini cars for onward supply to Okada riders across the country by way of reducing the menace of the use of motorbikes for public transport.
The initiative which is called the ‘okada for car initiative' is the fulfillment of a promise made by the incumbent government at the time they were seeking for re-election in the 2020 campaign period.

If recalled during the 2020 election presidential debate, the opposition National Democratic Congress in its manifesto promised to train commercial motorbike riders in an attempt to legalize the use.
However, in a counter-reaction, the NPP at the time maintained that it is better to replace these bikes with some easy motorable vehicles at affordable prices.

Finally, the Akufo-Addo gov't's mini-cars are in the country and preparations are underway to begin their distribution as soon as possible.

Though these preparations are now ongoing, checks reveal that more than 100 okada riders have already signed up for the cars.
The release of these vehicles would take effect in October 2021 after it is officially launched by the vice president of the country.
The Coastal Development Authority (CODA), the body at the head of the initiative revealed that one of the cars costs GHC25,000.00. However, members of the public can go ahead to deposit GHC10,000.00 whereas okada riders can deposit GHC5,000.000
